Walker Bailey

Our post is named after Walker Bailey, who was the first Humboldt County Casualty in WW I. He was from Hydesville, CA and still has family living there.

Building History

On October 25, 1929 Mr. and Mrs. A. Robinson sold the property to the city an a bargain price. 

The county approved a grant od $30,000 to build Veteran's Building.

Newton Ackerman was chosen as architect.

Ground breaking was on November 8, 1929 and building was opened November 30, 1930 with a ceremony and parade, attended by many dignitary's.
